Since I was able to walk I have always been a fan of sports. I played every game there has ever been invented that used a ball and I have aged away from competitive playing I have turned into a major fan. As many of you know I am an avid Chicago sports fan!!! Anything Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks and Bears I am all in 1000%
As for College sports it has always been the Razorbacks, Red Wolves and also Illinois Fighting Illini.
However since NIL I find myself less and less interested more and more each year. Back in the day a team was built and all the good players stayed at least 2 years, some maybe 3 but a core team was 4 years. Now all the good base players bounce 1 year in for the league or another University. It just sucks as a fan truly.
Lets take Arkansas for example> Acuff JR. one of the best Point Guards ever at Arkansas. Going pro after one year and will probably be drafted by an NBA team that sucks and he will ride the bench anyway. If they do not leave for the NBA they bounce for a bigger bag of money. Take DJ Wagner LOL>>> lets have a Iverson moment here “We are not talking about Arkansas, we are talking about MARYLAND” You leave probably one of the best College Coaches of all time to go to Maryland and play for a team that SUCKS!!! You leave a University that made the Great 8 and just a big man away from the Final Four??????
This is why I just hate College Sports anymore!! It is no longer about WINNING and Championships and it is all about $$$$$. There is ZERO loyalty and that is dangerous for the games, fans and the future of these kids. To be clear I have zero issues with players getting paid BUT there needs to be requirements of contacts for time, stats etc before the bag comes.
Do better NCAA and do better players!
