This is Jeremy Rowland’s personal blog. This page explains what the site collects and why.

Comments

When you leave a comment, the site stores the name and email address you enter, your IP address, and your browser’s user agent string. The name you enter is shown publicly beside your comment. Your email address is not shown publicly and is used only to identify repeat commenters and to contact you about your comment if needed.

Your first comment is held until it is approved by hand. After that, comments from the same email address may appear straight away.

If you tick the box to save your details, your name and email are stored in a cookie in your browser so you do not have to type them again. That cookie lasts a year and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s cookies.

Spam protection

Comment forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile and by Antispam Bee. Turnstile checks that you are a person rather than a bot; Cloudflare receives your IP address as part of that check. Antispam Bee runs on this site and does not send your data anywhere else.

Analytics

Visits are counted using Independent Analytics, which runs on this site. It does not set advertising cookies and does not share your data with third parties.

Embedded content

Posts may include embedded content such as videos or social posts. Those behave exactly as if you had visited the other website, and that website may collect data about you under its own policy.

How long data is kept

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up replies still make sense. Spam is deleted automatically after 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data held about you, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact details on the Links page and say which comments are yours.
