Hello, if you happen to be under the age of 25 as of today? Please let me tell you a story about life 25 years ago and why you should always make sure that it is never forgotten.
On September 11th, 2001 I was a regular working class individual like many others at work. I was a 26 year old, married with a son due to be born just the next month. I remember being at work and believe it or not I had a cell phone, the phone rings and it is my wife. Now my wife that I a still married to today was 8 months pregnant and home alone and in a city where we had little friends.
Back to the phone call, I can feel the uncertainly in her voice as she begins to tell me what she is seeing on tv. Now keep in mind back in 2001 we did not have these fancy high digital TV’s like today. We had bubble Tv’s. She tells me about NYC and then all of the airplanes in the air etc. You young kids have to remember the instant connect was not that good as it is today with technology.
I tell her that I am on my way home, I try and try to get home. The highways were packed, panic was everywhere and the gas stations were packed, people were running in and out of grocery stores. The drive home that usually took 15 minutes took almost two hours.
Over the next few days after 9/11 and the numbers grew and grew of the lost Americans, the sadness but yet the pride of the Americans that fought back to save life’s. The amount of police, firefighters and so many others that were lost kept rising. People posting photos looking for loved ones is what you saw on TV.
If you were not alive? Please educate yourself on this matter, let it soak in real deep and make it a point for the rest of your lives to never let the people lost that day and the families that were charged forever be forgotten.
This is your America, love it, protect it, never be ashamed of it, never let anyone disrespect it. Over 3000 people were lost on this day 25 years ago and over 50 thousand more suffer or have died from illness from that days consequences.
Today we honor and remember all that were lost on 9/11
