I have been a Chicago Sports fan my entire life from the Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks and most of all my beloved Cubs baseball team. What a ride of emotions it has been over the years since birth onto this earth. It all started with the Cubs back in 1981 when at the age of 6 I fell in love with baseball and my grandparents always watched the Cubs on WGN. I have always been a “bigger” guy and not really fast but had athletic ability so it was natural playing catcher position from start. It didn’t take much to get me to play that position b/c my all time favorite @Cub is Jody Davis.
Talk about emotions with the Cubs, so many games listening to Harry Caray and watching all the great players over the years get so close but yet so far away from winning. Then 2016 came along and they finally did it. The big one WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!! I truly cried like a baby, happy they won it but wished the people that introduced me to the Cubs were here to see it.
Then we have the Bears with the flamboyant QB Jim McMahon and the 85′ Bears. What a team that was from Coach Ditka, Sweetness Payton and my personal favorite “Fridge Perry” as that team was just stacked with personalities and players. I personally believe it is there greatest football team ever to play in the NFL.
Along came the Bulls after drafting a kid named “Jordan” and not much needs to be said about that and the dynasty of the Chicago Bulls. To be a teenager and playing basketball in high school during that time was awesome. Side note however, my personal favorite player has always been Sir Charles Barkley.
The 2000’s brought me the DYNASTY of the Blackhawks hockey team. If you have never been to a hockey game?? GO GO GO GO! Trust me you will be hooked. What a run with 2010, 2013 & 2015 Stanley Cup Champs with. players like Kane, Towes and so many other players that made this run. They just could not lose.
Now that I am in my 50’s I have been able to enjoy all of the winning championships with each team. I want more and last night with the Bears beating the HATED Packers that want is even bigger.
Bears WON, Blackhawks WON, Cubs with a huge pick up with Bregman and the Bulls WON also. The perfect day for a Chicago Sports Fan….
